Ti Top Island: One of the World’s Most Stunning Beaches

Ti Top Island is renowned for its stunning scenery and pleasant weather, making it a must-visit beach destination.

Occupying a small area of 3.7 hectares, Ti Top Island is one of the smallest islands in the Ha Long Bay, located in the Quang Ninh province of northern Vietnam. The island’s captivating view and excellent location attract a significant number of tourists every year.

The island is named after Gherman Titov, the pilot of the Vostok II spacecraft, who made his journey just four months after Yuri Gagarin’s historic spaceflight on April 12, 1961.

Gherman Titov was the first person to capture pictures of Earth from space, conduct biomedical experiments, and communicate via radio.

In January 1962, Titov visited Vietnam at the invitation of President Ho Chi Minh. During his visit, he and President Ho Chi Minh named Island No. 48 as Ti Top Island, using a Vietnamese pronunciation of the cosmonaut’s name.

Also featured in the top 100 list of incredible beaches are the Blue Lagoon Beach in Yasawa Islands, Fiji; Lalomanu Beach in Upolu, Samoa; Tapuaeta’i/One Foot Island Beach in Aitutaki, Cook Islands; Ta’ahiamanu Beach in Mo’orea, French Polynesia; Cathedral Cove in North Island, New Zealand; The Pass in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia; Wineglass Bay in Freycinet National Park, Tasmania, Australia; Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia; and Squeaky Beach in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia.

Ti Top Island is a preferred destination for tourists taking Halong Bay tours due to its ideal location. It is surrounded by Bo Hon Island and Sung Sot Cave on one side, Dam Nam Island on the other side, and Cua Luc Bay at its back. Furthermore, Ti Top Beach is just 7-8 kilometers away from Bai Chay Tourist Area to the Southeast.

Ti Top Island has a steep slope on one side and an inclined slope on the other side when viewed from above. The beach along its coast has a moon-like shape with smooth white sand, and its crystal-clear blue waters offer visibility of pebbles on the sandy bottom throughout the year. These geographical features make Ti Top Island a must-visit stopover in Halong Bay.

In the past, Ti Top Island was known by the names Nghia Dia or Hong Thap Tu. The name Ti Top was given to commemorate the sailors who lost their lives when a French freighter crashed in Halong Bay.

The island was renamed Ti Top Island after the Russian cosmonaut Gherman Titov visited Halong Bay in 1962, accompanied by President Ho Chi Minh. Visitors can learn about the island’s history in detail through the memorial stone in front of the island.

In addition to its beautiful natural scenery and stunning mountains, Ti Top Beach, also known as Vang Trang Beach, adds a unique touch to the island. The beach, although not large in size, enthralls tourists with its pure white sand and crystal-clear blue waters that remain consistent throughout the year. As a result, it is an ideal destination for a relaxing holiday getaway.

Climbing Ti Top Island is an activity that visitors must not miss. By conquering the peak of the mountain through 400 steep steps, visitors can experience the immensity and grandeur of Halong Bay from an altitude of 100 meters. This offers a chance to witness the various changes occurring on Ti Top Island throughout the day.

For those who enjoy swinging in the wind while taking in the beauty of Halong Bay from above, beach parachuting is the perfect option. However, participants must be in good health to partake in this activity. If you have the opportunity, give it a try to enjoy a truly exhilarating experience!
