According to the observation of Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reporters, the Con Son community tourism area in Binh Thuy District and the Buckwheat Flower Farm in Cai Rang District attracted crowds of visitors seeking to revel in the festive atmosphere of the new year. Although tam giac mach (buckwheat) flower is among the most well-known blooms in northern Vietnam’s Ha Giang Loop, this is the first time the wildflower has been successfully planted to attract tourists in southern Vietnam. The annual Lim festival falls on the 12th and 13th days of the first lunar month, or February 2 and February 3 this year. The festival mainly takes place in the Hong Van Mountain, or Lim Mountain area which attracts the most visitors. Diverse activities are held throughout the festival, including folk games, love duet singing, and calligraphy. A performance of love duet songs put on by children in Hoan Son commune of Tien Du district receives plenty of enthusiastic applause from locals and tourists. Female singers make trầu (betel and areca nut), an ancient snack, for visitors to enjoy at the festival. Some visitors ask for calligraphy works from scholars, a tradition in the new lunar year. Locals believe that the fire they get from burning votive papers at the village temple will bring them peace and prosperity in the year ahead. People prepare to collect the fire. Residents sit around the fire as they wait to get some lucky fire. Villagers use sticks to get the lucky fire from burning vitove papers offered at the village’s temple over the past year. People light incense or candles from the fire and then take them home as fast as they can before they head out. Locals then run home as fast as they can. The tradition has been maintained for several generations and is always done after Tet. The incense is then placed on the family altar at home as they wish for good luck in the new year. Through the painting the artist sends a message of happiness as life gets back to normality after the COVID-19 pandemic. It is one of the ancient citadel’s Spring Festival activities, not only to welcome the new season but also the new year. The festival resumes after a three-year hiatus caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Ten days ahead of the festival, the Yen Tu spiritual relic complex had received more than 150,000 arrivals, equal to 80% of the figure from 2018 and 90% of the figure from 2019. The festival is scheduled to last until the end of the third lunar month, with around one million monks, nuns, Buddhists, and pilgrims expected to attend the religious event, according to the Quang Ninh Buddhist Sangha. A wide range of activities will get underway during the festival, including a lantern night, dragon and unicorn dances, as well as folk games.  An incense offering ceremony to pray for peace, along with a painting and a photo exhibition showcasing the majestic beauty of the Yen Tu complex will be the main highlights of the festival.
