Planting 1,000 saplings in a nature reserve in north-central Vietnam

The four students attending Le Quy Don High School in Quang Tri’s Dong Ha City sowed a total of 1,000 saplings of breeds native to Dakrong Nature Reserve within one day, the provincial chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union confirmed on the same day. The initiative, called ‘Green Era,’ started in August and raised over VND120 million (US$4,884), all of which was used to purchase the 1,000 saplings. After planting trees on one hectare of land in Dakrong Nature Reserve, the group plans to launch another fundraising campaign to expand reforestation efforts to a different area. Cham Brahman people celebrates Kate festival

Visitors to the event, which is taking place from October 23-25 this year, can witness rituals such as the genie’s costume procession, the opening of tower gates, and genie statue bathing. They also have a chance to enjoy performances of local Gi Nang drum and Saranai horn. Falling on the first day of the seventh month of the Cham calendar, Kate is the biggest festival in the year of the Cham Brahman people. It reminds the ethnic Brahman community of their ancient gods and delivers wishes for bumper harvests and the growth of all beings. There are more than 53,700 Cham Brahman people in Ninh Thuan who live mainly in the districts of Ninh Phuoc, Thuan Nam, Thuan Bac and Ninh Hai, and Phan Rang-Thap Cham city. The Kate Festival was recognised as a national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2017. Vietnam looking for talented foreign coach for men’s football team following Park’s departure

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) officially announced on Monday that it will end the contract with Park on January 31, 2023, closing his fruitful five-year journey with Vietnamese football that had started in late 2017. The decision means that the 2022 AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup, set to take place between December and January, will be Park’s last tournament as the head coach of the men’s national football team. The VFF affirmed that the farewell to the South Korean coach, who brought significant success to Vietnamese football during his tenure, came from a mutual understanding and the desire for a prosperous future for both parties.
