HCM City’s largest flower village busy preparing for Tet holiday
For nearly a decade an area of roughly 40,000 square metres on Le Thi Rieng street in Thoi An ward in the outlying District 12 has been used in order to grow flowers to serve the extra demand around Tet. The flower village which is located in the northwest of downtown area of Ho Chi Minh City is now entering its busiest time of the year. Chrysanthemum, marigold, crested chicken, and sunflowers are the main flowers which are grown here. Local people must work hard as a means of ensuring the flower’s fast growth and flowering in time for Tet. Pots filled with daisies are carefully tended to so they can be sold at the Tet market. To prepare for the Lunar New Year festival, gardens have created extra jobs for many local people, who typically earn between VND150,000 and VND200,000 daily.
