According to Hoang Viet, a skilled craftsman, his facility produces more than 5,000 dragon figurines every day.
Every stage of making these clay figurines needs to be done with great care to ensure a perfect product.
With the increasing demand for clay figurines in recent years, a wide range of attractive designs is being produced.
Lai Thieu’s clay figurines are gaining more attention and competing with plastic and wooden items.
These artisanal products are distributed to provinces such as Tien Giang and An Giang, as well as the southwestern and southeastern regions of Vietnam. They are also exported to markets in Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand.
The price of each figurine varies based on its size and design, typically ranging from VND30,000 to VND170,000 per piece.
The painting stage is a meticulous piece of work as the paint must be evenly coated without smears.
The crafting village experiences its highest level of sales during the Lunar New Year festival.
It’s believed that keeping money in new dragon-shaped clay boxes will bring prosperity in the upcoming year.
Hughie’s on 18th Street West Houston, established in 2013, is one of many Vietnamese -American restaurants. Photo: Wikipedia Anton Zeilinger is a professor of physics at the University of Vienna and a Senior Scientist at the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. His research group has demonstrated a phenomenon called quantum teleportation, which makes it possible to move a quantum state from one particle to one at a distance. For Anders Irbäck, Chair of the Nobel Committee for Physics, “It has become increasingly clear that a new kind of quantum technology is emerging. We can see that the laureates’ work with entangled states is of great importance, even beyond the fundamental questions about the interpretation of quantum mechanics“. Together with Anton Zeilinger, John Clauser and Alain Aspect were also awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics 2022 “for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science“. The work has been done on the initiative of Dao Thi Cam Suong, a calligrapher from Can Tho. The giant conical hat is made up of a total of 540 smaller conical hats, with calligraphy written on top. Suong has spent 89 days writing the calligraphy and finding connections to produce the finished product. The words written on the giant hat include sightseeing spots in Can Tho, folk songs, proverbs, poems, and the names of various provinces and cities across the country. She shares that the purpose of her work is to honour the beauty of the fatherland through pieces of calligraphy. Indeed, the giant hat is created from 540 small conical hats which themselves represent the country’s 54 ethnic minority groups. The diametre of the giant hat spans for more than eight metres, with the length from the tip to the brim roughly four meters and the length from the tip of the cone to the ground roughly six metres. The work has 14 rows of conical ha...
