Piloting Audio Exhibit Spaces in Ho Chi Minh City Museums

The concept of audio exhibit spaces, also known as “story cabins,” was first introduced by the Confluences Museum in Lyon, France. Vietnam is the pioneer country where France has implemented this innovative model.

Story cabins are sound devices that are accessible to all visitors. Each cabin is equipped with a control screen, allowing users to choose presentations for four remarkable artifacts displayed at the Museum of Ho Chi Minh City, the Southern Women’s Museum, the History Museum of HCM City, and the HCM City Museum of Fine Arts.

According to Doan Thi Trang, Deputy Director of the Museum of HCM City, they have plans to add more artifact presentations to these cabins in the near future in order to attract a wider range of visitors.

This initiative is part of the Solidarity Fund for Innovative Projects (FSPI), which is supported by the French Embassy in Vietnam and the Consulate General of France in HCM City. Hélène Lafont-Couturier, Director of the Confluences Museum, expressed her hopes that these new devices will provide an interesting and immersive experience for Vietnamese people.

Tran The Thuan, Director of the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, emphasized the importance of integrating technology into the museum system as part of the city’s digital transformation roadmap.
