Vietnamese-origin artists in UK retain memories of homeland

Opened on April 19, the exhibition is the continuation of Vietnamese-origin artists’ journey to explore their homeland that started in 2022.

A large number of visitors from different groups and ages, especially young Vietnamese, have come to the event.

On display are items reflecting typical things, landscapes, and images of the past, traditional meals that connect family generations, and traditional foods deeply intertwined with the memory of Vietnam and the Vietnamese identity that parents want to pass down to future generations in the places they have settled down.

Visitors are greeted by a striking urban landscape installation constructed from Vietnamese plastic stools, highlighting the psychogeography of migrant populations.

The main room showcases object-based works on a low white table, inviting viewers to sit on bamboo carpets to engage with the works.

A space featuring a traditional-style altar of Vietnamese people also shows visitors a typical image of the country.

The exhibition that also includes many workshops, tea parties, and food sharing will last through July 11.

Who Is Anton Zeilinger – One Of The Three Nobel Winner Of Quantum Physics?

Photo: Wikipedia Anton Zeilinger is a professor of physics at the University of Vienna and a Senior Scientist at the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. His research group has demonstrated a phenomenon called quantum teleportation, which makes it possible to move a quantum state from one particle to one at a distance. For Anders Irbäck, Chair of the Nobel Committee for Physics, “It has become increasingly clear that a new kind of quantum technology is emerging. Giant calligraphy hat breaks record as largest in Vietnam

The work has been done on the initiative of Dao Thi Cam Suong, a calligrapher from Can Tho. The giant conical hat is made up of a total of 540 smaller conical hats, with calligraphy written on top. Suong has spent 89 days writing the calligraphy and finding connections to produce the finished product. The words written on the giant hat include sightseeing spots in Can Tho, folk songs, proverbs, poems, and the names of various provinces and cities across the country. She shares that the purpose of her work is to honour the beauty of the fatherland through pieces of calligraphy. Indeed, the giant hat is created from 540 small conical hats which themselves represent the country’s 54 ethnic minority groups.
