Photographic images of Vietnamese women displayed in France

The exhibition themed “Femmes du Vietnam: Tradition et Modernities” (Vietnamese women: Tradition and Modernity) is being jointly organised by the France-Vietnam Friendship Association and the authorities of the Loire-Atlantique region in France.

More than 60 artworks highlighting Vietnamese women’s beauty seen from their back, along with their costumes, working tools, and household utensils were photographed by Thiery Beyne during his past tours throughout Vietnam.

Beyne began travelling in the 1980s, traversing several Asian countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam.

During his Vietnam tours, including a 7-year-stay, he has had a chance to travel from north to south, meet many different people, and showcase different perspectives about life in Vietnam through his work.

The exhibition also showcases black-and-white photographs featuring Vietnamese landscapes and people in daily lives snapped by French photographer Jean-Michel Nicolau.

Besides, portraits of 11 outstanding Vietnamese women by French journalist Sabrina Rouille are being exhibited.

The event is taking place as part of Festival aux Coeurs du Vietnam, the Vietnamese heart festival, in celebration the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and France this year.

The exhibition will last through to May 21.

Who Is Anton Zeilinger – One Of The Three Nobel Winner Of Quantum Physics?

Image
Photo: Wikipedia Anton Zeilinger is a professor of physics at the University of Vienna and a Senior Scientist at the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. His research group has demonstrated a phenomenon called quantum teleportation, which makes it possible to move a quantum state from one particle to one at a distance. For Anders Irbäck, Chair of the Nobel Committee for Physics, “It has become increasingly clear that a new kind of quantum technology is emerging. We can see that the laureates’ work with entangled states is of great importance, even beyond the fundamental questions about the interpretation of quantum mechanics“. Together with Anton Zeilinger, John Clauser and Alain Aspect were also awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics 2022 “for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science“. Traditional house of the Nung in Lao Cai

From the center of Si Ma Cai district, tourists travel about 3 km to Nan San commune to contemplate the picturesque scenes of terraced fields in a lush valley and the ancient earthen houses of the Nung people, which have stood for several dozen years to a hundred years.  Then Xuan Van, a local, says that before building a new house, the Nung people must choose a place that support production and living conditions.  “According to the Nung’s custom, the direction of the main door must suit the age of the house’s owner. We choose an appropriate day and hour to break the ground. At a chosen time, we put a mould used to make earthen walls on the land and butcher a chicken and a pig to inform the land spirits of our construction. I say: ‘Today is a good day. My surname is Then. I will break the ground to build a house. I pray the land...
