Concert marking 150th birthday of Rachmaninov to open in Hanoi

The event will be performed by artists of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji.

Famous musical pieces at the concert include the violin concerto in D minor, Op.47 of Jean Sibelius, originally composed in 1904 and revised in 1905 and Symphony No.2 in E minor Op.27 of Sergei Rachmaninov.

Rachmaninov was born on April 1, 1873 in Novgorod, Russia, into a musical family. He took up the piano at the age of 4. He studied with Anton Arensky and Sergei Taneyev at the Moscow Conservatory and graduated in 1892.

Who Is Anton Zeilinger – One Of The Three Nobel Winner Of Quantum Physics?

Photo: Wikipedia Anton Zeilinger is a professor of physics at the University of Vienna and a Senior Scientist at the Institute for Quantum Optics and Quantum Information at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. His research group has demonstrated a phenomenon called quantum teleportation, which makes it possible to move a quantum state from one particle to one at a distance. Giant calligraphy hat breaks record as largest in Vietnam

The work has been done on the initiative of Dao Thi Cam Suong, a calligrapher from Can Tho. The giant conical hat is made up of a total of 540 smaller conical hats, with calligraphy written on top. Suong has spent 89 days writing the calligraphy and finding connections to produce the finished product. The words written on the giant hat include sightseeing spots in Can Tho, folk songs, proverbs, poems, and the names of various provinces and cities across the country. She shares that the purpose of her work is to honour the beauty of the fatherland through pieces of calligraphy. Indeed, the giant hat is created from 540 small conical hats which themselves represent the country’s 54 ethnic minority groups.
