Photo exhibition on UNESCO-recognised Xoe Thai dance opens in Yen Bai

On display are 250 photos, 55 of which feature the beauty of the Xoe dance performed by the Thai Muong Lo ethnic group and residents in the country’s northwest region.

Meanwhile, nearly 200 photos on tourism reflect Vietnam’s popular tourist attractions, cultural heritages, historical sites, festivals, traditional craft villages, and various types of folklore in eight regional provinces, including Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La, Hoa Binh, and Ha Giang.

Through these artworks, the exhibition greatly helps introduce the land and people, special cultural identities, and tourism products of eight northwestern provinces. It is also expected to strengthen co-operation in tourism development in these localities and form a chain of tourism links for the northwestern region moving forward.

The exhibition will run until September 28.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has recognized the Xoe dance of the Thai ethnic people as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. A ceremony is scheduled to be held in Yen Bai on September 24 to receive the UNESCO certificate in honour of this genre of art.

Who Is Anton Zeilinger – One Of The Three Nobel Winner Of Quantum Physics?

Giant calligraphy hat breaks record as largest in Vietnam

The work has been done on the initiative of Dao Thi Cam Suong, a calligrapher from Can Tho. The giant conical hat is made up of a total of 540 smaller conical hats, with calligraphy written on top. Suong has spent 89 days writing the calligraphy and finding connections to produce the finished product. The words written on the giant hat include sightseeing spots in Can Tho, folk songs, proverbs, poems, and the names of various provinces and cities across the country. She shares that the purpose of her work is to honour the beauty of the fatherland through pieces of calligraphy. Indeed, the giant hat is created from 540 small conical hats which themselves represent the country’s 54 ethnic minority groups.
